Graduate Shows 2020: The Best Jewellery and Silversmithing Talent from across the UK

The graduate show season is upon us. From early May until late September, colleges and universities from across the UK will celebrate their graduates’ talent showcasing their final projects and collections.

This year, all degree shows are moving online, so we’ve gathered a list of the UK’s best degree shows in jewellery and silversmithing. This page will be regularly updated over the coming months with more exciting graduate work, so stay tuned!

Glasgow School of Art

The Silversmithing and Jewellery programme at Glasgow School of Art aims to provide a broad, balanced approach to the specialism, from the development of original design concepts through to finely crafted finished work.

Belfast School of Art, Ulster University

The BA Hons Contemporary Applied Arts (CCA) Ceramics, Silversmithing and Jewellery course at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University, aims to develop independent, skilled, motivated and creative graduates who will contribute directly to rapidly expanding national and international craft communities and markets through innovation and entrepreneurship.

Edinburgh College of Art

Situated in the College's School of Design, the Jewellery and Silversmithing programme at Edinburgh College of Art is world-renowned, with an emphasis on practical, studio-based work. It encourages students to hone traditional craft skills whilst also exploring the latest in technology and innovation.

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD)

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design is part of the University of Dundee and is one of the UK's leading design institutions. The College's Jewellery and Metal Design programme encourages students to develop their own distinct creative voice, and to build a foundation of traditional craft skills whilst also exploring technologies such as CAD/CAM and 3D printing.

Truro College Art and Design

Truro and Penwith College in Cornwall offers Bachelor and Foundation level courses in Jewellery and Silversmithing that teach proficency in traditional craft techniques such as raising, planishing, box making, stone setting, etc, whilst emphasising problem-solving skills and an energetic, innovative approach to design. 

Birmingham City University

Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery offers courses in Jewellery, Silversmithing, Gemmology, Horology and International Jewellery Business. As part of the University’s Inspired Festival, the School of Jewellery is celebrating its graduating students and their innovative work and how they have explored processes and materials to push the boundaries of their discipline.
