We open 2025 Business Catalyst (Large) Grants: Up to £7,000 for UK jewellery and silversmithing businesses

Today, the Goldsmiths’ Centre, dedicated to supporting the jewellery, silversmithing and allied industries to embrace learning as an essential lifelong practice, announces the opening of applications for its Business Catalyst (Large) Grants for 2025. These grants, offering up to £7,000 (including VAT), are designed to support UK-based jewellers, silversmiths, or allied industry practitioners who are ready to elevate their businesses and drive significant growth.

The Business Catalyst (Large) Grants, funded through generous philanthropic giving from current members of the Goldsmiths’ Company, offer financial support to UK jewellers and silversmiths to achieve their ambitious goals. The grants, which must be used within twelve months, can fund activities such as skill development through training or internships, team expansion with new staff training, service creation and diversification through new collections or collaborations, and market expansion via overseas exhibitions or new partnerships.

To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to business growth, such as increasing sales, productivity, or profitability, or creating new employment opportunities. They must have no more than two employees (including themselves), a minimum of five years of relevant business experience, practice in the UK for at least five years following the grant and contribute a minimum of 10% towards the total project cost.

“Our Business Catalyst (Large) Grants provide a unique opportunity for jewellers, silversmiths or allied industry practitioners to transform their business ambitions into reality. By offering targeted financial support, we empower recipients to advance their skills, expand their market reach, and innovate their offerings. This flexibility ensures that each grant is a powerful tool for growth, tailored to the specific needs and aspirations of the individual.””

– Julia Skilton, Grants and Engagement Manager at the Goldsmiths’ Centre

“The grant has allowed me to dedicate time to further my skills and focus on an end goal. Even if I hadn’t been awarded the grant, the whole process was still really beneficial because it helped me to re-evaluate where we were and clarify what we needed to progress as a business. The funding is not just for my training, but also for upskilling my bench worker, which will go on to benefit the whole team long-term.”

Applications for the Business Catalyst (Large) Grants close on Sunday 9 February 2025 at 5 pm.
