Join the team at the Goldsmiths’ Company’s Library to explore the creative world of renowned jeweller Dorothy Hogg. Professor Hogg created a remarkable body of work over six decades, and her pieces can be found in museums and as cherished jewels in private collections.

A series of sketchbooks show how Dorothy Hogg found inspiration in the body and movement, but she also became an inspiration in her own right, influencing a generation of designers at Edinburgh College of Art, where she was Head of Jewellery and Silversmithing from 1985 until 2007.

The session will look at her explorations of form and motion through her archival legacy and the work of the makers she influenced. Photograph and draw a range from the books and archives in the collection to spark your inspiration.

As part of the session there will also be the opportunity to see the exhibition Life and Legacy: Dorothy Hogg (1945-2022), at Goldsmiths’ Hall. The accompany catalogue can be purchased via the link below.
