Explore the science of alloying and reticulation in this hands-on workshop with experienced goldsmith Stavros Constantinou. Over the course of two days, you will gain the skills to create your own silver alloy and manipulate its surface using heat to create beautiful, textured patterns. Whether you’re looking to recycle materials or refine your technical knowledge, this course will deepen your understanding of metallurgy and provide techniques to enhance your workshop practice.
The latest addition to our popular metallurgy themed short courses, this two-day workshop introduces the science behind alloying your own silver and mastering the art of reticulation. Guided by experienced goldsmith Stavros Constantinou, you’ll learn how to prepare materials correctly, combining pure silver and copper in precise ratios to create hallmark-ready alloys.
Through live demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll melt and pour your alloy, roll it into sheet form, and explore reticulation techniques to craft stunning ripples and ridges. This practical process will help you develop control over heat and flame, allowing you to create dynamic textures and patterns.
By the end of the course, you’ll leave with your own reticulated silver sheet, ready to shape or cut into bespoke designs to embellish your work. With a small group size, you’ll benefit from individual guidance tailored to your needs, making this an inspiring and rewarding experience for intermediate makers.
