This three immersive online sessions, will deepen your technical knowledge and creative expertise, helping you develop professional-grade jewellery illustrations and expand your creative toolkit.

Whether you are a returning student from Adobe Illustrator Essentials for Jewellery Design Part 1, or are already experienced with vector line tools and want to build your jewellery-specific illustration skills, we’ve got you covered. Delivered online over three 3-hour sessions, this course will:

  • Session 1: Master advanced rendering techniques for jewellery components like multi-stone settings, pavé, and intricate metalwork, exploring gradients, textures, and transparency effects.
  • Session 2: Work with complex shapes and paths, including compound paths and clipping masks, to create layered, dynamic compositions. Learn to use advanced alignment and distribution tools for precision.
  • Session 3: Develop a multi-component jewellery design, bringing together multiple elements into a cohesive, detailed final composition. Discover best practices for file management, exporting, and integrating your designs into manufacturing workflows.


This course emphasises hands-on learning with individual attention from the tutor. Participants will have opportunities to work on their own jewellery projects under Jack’s guidance, ensuring the skills you develop are immediately applicable to your unique creative goals. Whether you’re a professional jewellery designer or an aspiring creative looking to refine your abilities, this course offers the tools and techniques to elevate your practice and transform your ideas into stunning, detailed illustrations.

*Please note: Completion of Part 1 is highly recommended before enrolling in this course, as it builds directly on the skills and techniques covered in the introductory sessions.

As this course will be delivered online, you will need to have the following tools and materials for the first lesson. If you are unsure, please email professional.training@goldsmiths-centre.org

  • A computer (PC or Mac) with a web camera and mic so you can show your work to the tutor to get feedback and guidance on your progress.
  • A mouse.
  • Adobe illustrator CC installed on your own computer.
  • A stable internet connection.
  • This course will be run online on Zoom (UK time).
  • You will receive a link to join the course in your email confirmation, along with a download link for essential notes and tutorial files. A reminder email containing this link will also be sent one hour before the event starts.
  • You will be interacting with the tutor live during the session, being able to ask questions as you work through the exercises together with the tutor.
  • Participants will also be able to send images/scans of their homework for support and feedback in between sessions via email or whatsapp.
  • These sessions will be recorded and stored in a Vimeo showcase accessible by private link and password. Videos will be available for up to 2 months after the course ends.

This course is designed for Beginners & Intermediate - while not strictly necessary, but in order to benefit most from this course and continue building their skills, we recommend to participants to have completed our Adobe illustrator part 1. 

Beginner: Limited prior experience required.

Participants at the beginner level should have a basic understanding of workshop practices and some exposure to handling tools and materials. This level is ideal for those who may have minimal practical experience but are looking to expand their knowledge and skills. The course will focus on building confidence in using essential tools and techniques, such as piercing, filing, and basic soldering, while reinforcing key workshop procedures like safety, measuring, and assembly. Instruction will guide participants through fundamental tasks, emphasizing accuracy and good habits as they develop the ability to work more independently.

Intermediate: Practical experience and understanding of listed skills required.

Participants at the intermediate level should have prior experience in a workshop environment and the ability to work independently on fundamental tasks. They should be comfortable with processes such as piercing, filing, and soldering, and possess a working knowledge of workshop tools and techniques. This level focuses on refining basic skills, introducing more complex tasks, and developing the ability to troubleshoot and work with greater precision and autonomy.

In order to benefit most from this course, participants should have some experience in jewellery design and some ideas they would like to experiment with.

Who is the tutor?

Jack Meyer has been providing jewellery CAD training in London's jewellery district Hatton Garden since 2006. Over 1000+ students have passed through his classes over the years. His combined background in computer graphics programming as well as jewellery manufacturing is unusual among jewellery CAD instructors. He is also one of the few jewellery CAD instructors in the world who is certified to provide training in all major jewellery CAD software packages. When not writing or delivering courses, he runs a bespoke jewellery design business and moderates CADJewellerySkills.com, where he uses his combined knowledge of all types of jewellery CAD to provide advisory to those keen on starting out in jewellery CAD.
