Since her first retail encounter, Rebecca still loves and is driven by the idea of making money and selling for a great cause. She will share her insight into the processes behind making, buying and merchandising; what customers want out of design and how to stay ahead of the game.
Exchange ideas and inspiring conversation over a glass of wine with other members of the Goldsmiths’ Centre ahead of the talk, which starts at 6.30pm.
A 3.5% booking fee applies on all bookings and credit card transactions. Please note that we cannot provide refunds or exchanges.

Rebecca Hossain's first role in retail management was in Bangladesh, working for the retail arm of BRAC (Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee) now the largest NGO in the world. She then ran her own fair trade retail partnership in Islington for 5 years before moving into the world of museums and galleries, starting at Tate Modern. Next stop a year managing the flagship showroom of Farrow & Ball in Chelsea, she then joined the National Portrait Gallery as their first Retail Operations Manager. In 2013, Rebecca joined the Design Museum, recruited to develop the retail strategy for the move to its new Kensington premises, which included responsibility for the two shops including one stand alone on High Street Kensington, the e-commerce operation and more recently the commercial elements of museum publishing. 2017 saw Rebecca launch her own retail consultancy focussing on one of her passions: sharing knowledge, experience and ideas on retail, buying and developing a retail strategy within capital projects.
