Your hand-crafted jewellery collection or silversmithing work is ready to sell. Now you are looking to approach a selling event, shops, boutiques and galleries to earn good-sized sales. This can seem like a daunting proposition, so where do you begin?

Rebecca Hossain, former Head of Retail for the Design Museum, will explain how to get your foot in the door and empower you to present yourself and your work confidently to selling event organisers, buyers and wholesalers. This business growth workshop is specifically tailored to jewellers and silversmiths; and will offer group and individual exercises to open discussion and transform theory into practice.

Rebecca Hossain's first role in retail management was in Bangladesh, working for the retail arm of BRAC (Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee) now the largest NGO in the world. She then ran her own fair trade retail partnership in Islington for 5 years before moving into the world of museums and galleries, starting at Tate Modern. Next stop a year managing the flagship showroom of Farrow & Ball in Chelsea, she then joined the National Portrait Gallery as their first Retail Operations Manager. In 2013, Rebecca joined the Design Museum, recruited to develop the retail strategy for the move to its new Kensington premises, which included responsibility for the two shops including one stand alone on High Street Kensington, the e-commerce operation and more recently the commercial elements of museum publishing. 2017 saw Rebecca launch her own retail consultancy focussing on one of her passions: sharing knowledge, experience and ideas on retail, buying and developing a retail strategy within capital projects.
