New Community Advisory Group to broaden participation in the Goldsmiths' Centre intiatives

The Goldsmiths’ Centre has announced the launch of a new Community Advisory Group to broaden access to and visibility of its programmes amongst young people and underrepresented communities.

The group – which will consist of ten proactive individuals with experience in education, outreach, grant giving, diversity, programming or marketing – will meet initially twice per year to support the charity in creating career and development opportunities for those entering and working in the jewellery, silversmithing and allied industries.

“Across the Goldsmiths’ Centre team, we recognise just how important it is to improve equity, diversity, and inclusion across all our programmes and initiatives. The Community Advisory Group will play a key role in providing invaluable guidance to make informed decisions and help shape the future around this important area of work”

– Peter Taylor, Director of the Goldsmiths' Centre

The Community Advisory Group will help the Goldsmiths’ Centre to develop funding initiatives and programmes that are informed, innovative and inclusive. Appointed members will bring knowledge and experience of outreach into the community to increase access to the charity’s work, help the Goldsmiths’ Centre reach underrepresented communities through its public programme, and raise the visibility of its work by sharing impactful content through targeted communications.

The Goldsmiths’ Centre team will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis, with the first deadline on Friday 20 August. The new Community Advisory Group, which is a non-decision-making body, will meet formally for the first time in November 2021.
