Hi Jan, could you please tell us a little about yourself and your career to date?
Twenty years in the industry has taken me to many places, different styles of cuisine, and methods of cooking. Choosing to work for Gather & Gather has enabled me to produce healthy and seasonal dishes with emphasis on quality of ingredients, sustainability and locally sourced produce where possible.
What is a typical day for you as Head Chef?
As it’s a small team I find myself covering all areas within the kitchen, from breakfast to evening canapé parties. Implementing new dishes depending on seasonality, quality, and innovation, introducing different cooking methods and food combinations.
Having a constant changing display of foods while keeping the favourites on offer ensures new and regular customers are forever happy and satisfied.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The versatility, creativity, and the hands-on nature of my work! Also delivering an enjoyable experience to the clients.
How is catering at the café Bench different to catering for our bespoke events?
At the café Bench we strive to surprise our customers with different and interesting dishes, salads, frittata etc. whereas for our bespoke events we tailor our offer to the expectation of our client and then exceed their expectation, with attention to detail!
